We love 30A! This will be our 8th Summer to spend playing and working in Seaside/Watercolor and while we are no expert, we get lots of advice on what we like to do as a family and just basic information that has made our trip better! Somethings we have found out the hard way!
Booking a house!
We get asked the most is where to stay in Watercolor… honestly, there really isn’t a bad place to stay. It is all nice and basically a big neighborhood. We like to stay in the Camp District near the field/park/camp pool but keep in mind this is about a half mile bike ride. We do not mind the ride, we load up for the beach and take the kids down. You can stay in condos at The Water Color Inn and you will be very close to the beach! You can also rent golf carts but in the past few years they have restricted the number of carts in use so make sure to check with that. You can rent bikes in Watercolor (near the boat house) or you can call ahead and have Big Daddy’s deliver to you. You’ll also want to book your chairs/umbrella in advance! Or you may bring your own and set up to the right of the main boardwalk….don’t worry, you’ll see.
We have booked through a couple of places. 30A cottages, 360 blue, Dune Vacation and we have used VRBO as well. Most of these companies will have listed on there as well. Besides the beach and the multiple pools there is also a boat house where you can rent paddle boards, canoes, and fish. If you are looking for a great outdoor workout we love RUN/SUP little bit of running and paddle boarding. They have a Summer race series we love to do as well! and don’t forget to grab a swell pop! yummy!
Also great places to shop near the Inn and Watercolor pool. and stop to grab a glass of wine or a bite to eat at The Wine Bar. Great pizza and Salad!
Head over to Seaside!
Literally just ride your bike. I promise it will be easier to find a place to park. We love to go Saturday mornings for farmers market. and we love love the food trucks! great ice cream shop too! Here you will find great shops too! Lots of cute clothes…most of my sessions just wait to finalize their clothing choices until they get to Florida because so many great options! For a fun dinner check out Bud and Alleys and sit out on the deck. and breakfast we typically go to Raw and juicy (food truck with great juice and healthy choices!) or Great Southern (great grits, breakfast and bloodymary!) They also have fun stuff for the kids here in the Summer! Movie nights and of course 4th of July all-american fun! oh one last thing…for everyone asking about suits I wear…you must check out Ophelia! I buy at least one there every year.
My top advice….do not, i repeat do NOT try to hit Publix Saturday at 3:00…you will be there with everyone else! I have never seen anything like it!
And of course there is a long list of things we do outside the little bubble there….
We love to spend a day in Rosemary (20ish minute drive). The Pub is great outdoor fun and they have some great concerts there. Cafe 30A and Whisky Bravo for grown up night….sit on the upper deck. We even like a day in Panama City at the Pier when we need a break form the beach. There is a movie theater and some rides…more shops.
The nearest chick fil a is about 30 minutes away so you will get a detox from that lol
okay…that is it for now…really basic stuff but if you have never been I hope you find it helpful! I would love to hear what you love to do!!!
We would love for you to check out our BEACH PHOTOGRAPHY and love even more the opportunity to capture your family! We will be there June 3rd-8th, June28th-July 25th and then may stop back in on our way home from St Simons in early August.
